Less a project, and more a quest, The Next One chronicles my ongoing journey to design a better seat. We all sit far too much, and have come to replace the ideals and aspirations of ergonomics, with the ease of comfort. And as designers, we have only helped perpetuate this.
My interest in this topic began during my first desk job, as a co-op for a packaging company. However, this interest did not manifest itself into action until reading a book by Galen Cranz, and a chance encounter with the results of a collaboration between her and some of the greatest living chair makers.
