In January of 2017 my partner Claire, sister Mara, and I, drove to Washington D.C. to take part in the Women’s March. Out of the amazing experience came an urge to help the underrepresented share their messages, empowering peaceable assembly.
Later that same year I applied for a project grant through People’s Liberty, and upon award, Protest was born.
Protest made and freely distributed equipment to be used in “peaceable assembly.” The flagship product, the Democracy Preservation Kit, was a kit consisting of dry-erase markers, an instruction sheet, a pouch, and an inflatable dry-erase sign of my design. Over the course of a year we distributed the kits for free to demonstrators around Cincinnati, Louisville, and in Las Vegas for the Power to Polls Rally.
